Step Aside Barbie & Buzz Lightyear: iPads Higher On Kids Lists for Santa

Dear Santa: Kids Want iPads, iPhones & iPods
Barbie and Buzz Lightyear have dropped down the wish lists of what kids want to see under their Christmas trees come December 25, according to a survey by Duracell, the battery people, making the rounds today.

The Sun, in the UK, quotes battery maker Duracell's “Christmas Toy Report” that boys' top three hoped for gadgets are the iPhone4, the iPad, and the iPod Touch. For the girls, it's the iPod Touch, then iPad and iPhone4.

The iPad is craved by 10 percent of both the boys and the girls surveyed.

Santa will have little excuse for not giving the kids what they want.  His helpers--parents--will find iPad everywhere they go during holiday shopping:  In malls where AT&T and Verizon phone stores will push them, and at Wall-Mart, Target and BestBuy.

iPad sales have streaked high since it was introduced, and the expectation is that the holiday buying season will heat up sales of both the iPad and Amazon's Kindle.

For the last two years, the Kindle has been the "most wished for" item in the Amazon store.  How the iPad will stack up in the Amazon Store, where it is for sale, remains to be seen--if it can be seen.  Amazon, renowned for tightly controlling details on Kindle sales, may not it easy to compare the Kindle to the iPad on the Amazon bestseller lists.
