Planet iPad Daily Free Book Alert: Sunday, March 27: Two controversies for readers to consider in the free book listings, plus the temptation of a $2.99 treat from the prolific and popular Simon Wood in Accidents Waiting To Happen (TODAY'S SPONSOR)

Controversies to consider:  A book advocating old time discipline for rearing kids that critics claim is a thinly veiled political polemic from the right, and a risky attempt by a bestselling author to get a title to first base.   NY Times #1 Bestselling romance author Lisa Jackson serves up a freebie today in The Life And Death of Lauren Conroy: A Companion To Without Mercy.  But two reviewers (so far) say the companion struck out with them.  Jackson fans can take a free look to decide for themselves.  Also, the reviewer jury is hung when it comes to A Family of Value.....
But first, a word from ... Today's Sponsor
Simon Wood is often mentioned as one of the new players in the ebook revolution by industry watchers like J.A. Konrath.  See why in this $2.99 special which may cost you a lot more if you become hooked, like so many, on Wood's word-smithing because he offers 16 other titles in the Kindle Store.

Here's the set-up:

Josh Michaels is worth more dead than alive. He just doesn't know it yet. He has no idea why someone would try to kill him, clearly that's exactly what happened. When an SUV forced Josh's car off the road and into a river, it might have been an accident. But when Josh looked up at the road, expecting to see the SUV's driver rushing to help him, all he saw was the driver watching him calmly...then giving him a "thumbs down" sign. That was merely the first attempt on Josh's life, all of them designed to look like accidents, and all of them very nearly fatal. With his time--and maybe his luck--running out and no one willing to believe him, Josh had better figure out who wants him dead and why...before it's too late.
